Privacy policy

This policy covers the Scroll Torah apps for iPhone and Android. “We” means the developer of Scroll Torah, shown as the developer on its App Store and Google Play pages.

What stays on your phone

Your likes, notes, reading progress, streak, reading plans, the dates you add in My dates (Hebrew birthdays and yahrzeits, with any names you type) and your settings (language, parashah schedule, city, reminder times) are stored only on your device. The home-screen widgets read the same data from the app’s storage on your phone. We can’t see any of it.

If you’ve turned on your phone’s own backup (iCloud or Google), that backup may include the app’s data. That’s handled by Apple or Google under their terms, and we can’t access it.

Deleting the app deletes this data.

Location

The app never asks for your location. Shabbat and candle-lighting times are worked out on your phone for the city you pick from a list.

Reminders

Reminders (the verse of the day, the Friday Dvar Torah and yahrzeits) are scheduled on your phone by the phone’s own notification system. No server sends them. You can turn each one off in the app’s Settings.

Sharing

When you share a verse or a Dvar Torah, the image and text go only where you choose to send them, through your phone’s share sheet.

Children

The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the date above, and the same text in the app (Settings › About › Privacy).
